Joe was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 10, 1977.  He graduated from Dowling High School in 1996 and received an undergraduate B.S. degree in Computer Science from Simpson College in the spring of 2000.  After working for three years as a computer programmer with DataVision, Inc., a Des Moines based technology company, he enrolled in law school the summer of 2003 and earned his juris doctorate degree in 2005 from Drake University Law School in Des Moines.
